Is this you?
You're in the right place if…
- You just had surgery and your discharge paperwork says "follow up with PT" — but nobody explained what that means
- You're worried about doing too much too soon and re-injuring yourself
- You're three months post-op and frustrated that you're still not back to normal
- Driving to appointments is difficult right now, and telehealth would make your life much easier
- You had surgery and want to return to a specific activity — not just pass the surgeon's basic milestones
What it is
How we approach Post-Op Recovery
Post-operative physical therapy is where recovery becomes rehabilitation. The surgery addressed the structural problem — now PT restores the function, strength, and confidence that surgery alone can’t provide.
At Arogya Physical Therapy, Abhisha Patel, PT, DPT, MS, works within your surgical team’s protocol, honoring healing timelines while pushing you forward as quickly as your tissue allows. Early post-op work focuses on managing swelling and protecting the surgical repair while restoring the baseline range of motion and muscle activation that anchors everything that follows.
As healing progresses, treatment shifts: from passive care to active strengthening, from protected movement to full functional loading, from “doing okay” to genuinely thriving. The benchmarks that matter here aren’t just the surgeon’s six-week checkmarks — they’re the functional milestones that match your actual life.
Telehealth is especially valuable in the early post-op period, when getting in the car is its own obstacle. Remote sessions keep your recovery on pace when coming to the clinic isn’t practical. In-clinic care is available at our Leander location for hands-on treatment throughout the North Austin Corridor.

Common questions
FAQ
When should I start physical therapy after surgery?
Timing depends on your procedure and surgeon's protocol. Many patients begin within one to two weeks of surgery. If your surgeon provided a timeline, we'll follow it precisely. If you're unsure, call us and we'll help you coordinate.
Do you work with my surgeon's protocol?
Yes. Abhisha works within your surgeon's post-operative guidelines and will communicate with your surgical team as needed. Their protocol is the foundation; PT builds on top of it.
Can I use telehealth for post-op appointments?
Absolutely — and for many early post-op patients, telehealth is the practical answer. When driving is difficult or wound care limits clinic visits, telehealth keeps your recovery on track.
What if my recovery feels slower than expected?
Slower-than-expected recovery is often a sign that something specific needs attention. Abhisha will evaluate what's limiting your progress and adjust your plan accordingly — not just add more time.
