Unlike traditional compression-based massage, myofascial cupping uses negative pressure — gently lifting the layers of tissue that lie beneath the skin to decompress fascia, increase local circulation, and release chronic myofascial tension that conventional techniques often can’t reach.

No — they're not bruises in the traditional sense. The circular marks are caused by stagnant blood and metabolic waste being drawn toward the skin's surface under negative pressure. They indicate areas of restricted circulation and typically fade within 3–7 days.

Does cupping hurt?

Most patients describe the sensation as an unusual pulling or stretching — not painful. The intensity can be adjusted throughout the session. There may be mild soreness in the 24–48 hours following, similar to post-exercise muscle soreness.

How is this different from traditional Chinese medicine cupping?
